running solidoodle
I have a friend with an .stl file to be made on the printer and I want to figure out how to make stuff on it. (I'm already a member I just haven't been around too often lately). Could I learn enough from solidoodle online instructions and give it a try or could someone give me a few tips?

Re: Phone charger (AC vs USB)
Got it to work, two phones about 1 amp each (Assumed from 0.65 amps on 7.6v side)
The weird thing is that the two phones had different cables that gave them the best current. (they all had shorted data pins)
Also I couldn't get the battery moniter app to get an accurate reading at all.

Re: Phone charger (AC vs USB)
Question: will my ubec fry if there's more than 3A worth of phones charging or will it limit the current?

Re: Phone charger (AC vs USB)
I'm looking to do something related, wire up a lipo battery to charge phones. 2s lipo with 3A 5V ubec. I don't think that you can get more than an amp into most phones regardless of the charger. 2A might be an overkill rating for a charger. But with a 3A ubec I should be able to charge 3 phones at o...

Re: Wood steering wheel
Update. Made a few changes to the shape and took a few tries but got one good piece out of it so far. I'll try to get better pictures next time. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-21MLcdeqv8A/UdJi810mEVI/AAAAAAAAANg/7q571-ufZi8/s512/IMG_20130622_160301.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jaO6Q8EV...

Re: Wood steering wheel
here how I whould make it. the PDF-File shows a way to machine the Frontpart on the CNC-Router. To machine the Backpart is similar. That is incredibly close to what I was thinking. That one might be a bit more efficient but it's stuff I might have thought of after doing it once or twice. Thanks tha...

Wood steering wheel
This is mostly just a test/practice run and if it goes well I'll make a few of them, whether its on the cnc or at home with a router. Background: I own a few old bmw's, most have the same steering wheel attachment, have wheels to spare and always wanted a wood steering wheel. I'm starting with an ol...

Something to check: Will the Rpi and/or network time know that it is in Saskatchewan and not one of those places where time jumps around by an hour twice a year?

Re: Motion Control Camera Rig
I've wanted to build one, but all I've ever had was a vague idea in my head.
Pretty much as small as possible just for a gopro, maybe more than one of them at a time.
I've got some little servos, rc remote and bearings from a skateboard.
Don't have the full plan yet, but the simpler the better.
