The Pipboy 3000 is a computerized armband that was popularized in the video game series, Fallout. It is used in game as an information readout for your inventory, skills, and condition of your character. In real life, I intend to use it as part of a halloween costume based on the character in game. (I already have the blue jumpsuit, just missing some yellow tape.)

As of Aug 8, 2014, I've completed printing the back half of the unit as well as the top dial.

About half finished. Put together the back of the unit. A couple big front parts to go, then prepping, priming, sanding and painting. Also put together the left side of the unit. Just hoping that the fit up is okay.

Almost completed the last of the parts last night. The large screen bezel failed about an hour into the print. One corner of the piece lifted and caused a pretty neat effect. It is an almost 4 hour part, so I'll be trying that again when I have more time. Please take a look at the unit (mostly) put together with an iPhone 3gs (thanks again Scott). May need to source a bigger screened phone.

Fairly happy. I think the prints are about 85-90% of the way there.
Here are a couple more photos. I've finished printing all of the parts and now comes the tricky part in building a mount for the Galaxy S2 that will be acting as my screen. Stay tuned for further details.

Well, the hope that I'd get this done for Halloween kinda came and went. Next year!
Anyway, here is the latest picture I took of the unit. I've been using a Badger 350 single action external mix airbrush to prime and basecoat the pipboy in Vallejo steel. There were a couple parts that had to be looked at, so I tried their putty. Seems to be working out pretty well. The new hobby store (Express Hobbies) has an excellent selection of acrylic paints in stock. $3-4 each. Managed to tap a bunch of the holes on the unit. Bought a bunch of hardware 4-40 and 5mm (don't judge) to assemble the unit. Very impressed with the selection and pricing at Bolt Supply. I then used a Smoke and Rust colour to achieve the weathering effect. Needs a bit more work, but as a whole I think it looks not bad.
