is the lack of newest->oldest -by-post sorting in the forum index an account level setting, or something server-side? If the former, any way to force it to newest->oldest, and if the latter ; the same goes?
It's really disconcerting to reply to an older post, and still see it reside where I saw it to begin with. Not to mention how much it messes with the mind in regards to last-read functionality.
(kind of embarassing to ask, as I've been a forum junky for more than a decade ; but I've also not used or administered phpBB for almost as long)

Re: forum settings?
I'm looking into this now, thanks for bringing it up. I don't remember ever seeing forums that go newest to oldest, but it WOULD be nice
Re: forum settings?
... really?
Every forum I've ever used always showed the most recent-posted-thread at the top of the forum, aka; most recently replied thread at the top of the index per forum. Reply to an old thread, it gets bumped up to the top - kind of thing.

Re: forum settings?
From what I've seen, topics will go from newest to oldest, but not posts... and I *THINK* this forum does that (note that the 2 at the very top are stickied)
Re: forum settings?
ahhh, combination of phpbb and the current the theme made me not realize that the top couple of threads were stickied. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: forum settings?
No worries, the inventory post probably doesnt need to be stickied anyway so I'll unsticky it
Re: forum settings?
I'd also recommend at least a different icon-set, if not going for a different theme for phpbb altogether. While the icons for stickied / normal are pretty distinct, in the context of everything else going on in the theme, they tend to blend into one-another. (it may very well be the default theme for all I know, as I said - it's been many many years since I had anything to do with phpbb).
Re: forum settings?
ps - I apparently confused matters over the past few days, with a poor grammatical choice in my post far above. I've edited it to reflect something a little more applicable, but I wanted to note that I'd done so - due to lack of history transparency.
