I've got tools and some parts that I can bring to some of our meetups/hack sessions. This includes a basic kit for soldering (variable temperature soldering iron, stand, various pliers, clippers, cutters, two large solderless bread boards with pre-cut wires, multimeter, etc.). I also have built up a decent stock of resistors and capacitors with a few other odds and ends. I will soon have my hands on a variable pin PIC programmer as well.

The "stuff poeple are willing to contribute" thread

As per suggestions made last night, I figured I'd go ahead and make a thread where peope can do a quick brain dump of some of the skills, resources, tools, and funding they have access to.

I'll go first I guess:
-I own a full sized truck, can haul stuff to the space if required
-I can donate a server rack, patch panels, riser cable, servers, router, firewall, switches, and storage (SCSI disk arrays?) for the space (willing to do a $0 lease) I figured a VMware host with a dozen or so linux VM's might be advantageous for people wanting to get into some dev work?
-I have access to borrow a lot of inductrial fabrication equipment (MIG, TIG, arc welders, plasma cutters, pipe threading equipment, rigging equipment, power tools, etc)
-Pretty sure I can donate some office furniture
-I might be able to supply a projector
- I've got a decent collection of hand tools that I would certainly be willing to bring when I'm there, but sort of use too often to leave.
-I have a 40-unit drawer/locker that can be secured with padlocks on each unit I am willing to "donate (again, $0 lease)

I have a basic oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and AVR programmer that I'm happy to lend to the group. I also have boxes of electronic components that are free to a good project, including HD44780-based LCDs, several types of Atmel AVR microcontrollers, wire, relays, and collections of capacitors and resistors. I could also donate a few lower-spec PCs to use on-site for internet access, microcontroller programming, or anything else that can't be done at home.

I can also lend a soldering station and other tools, but since I also use these at home, I wouldn't be able to leave them at the space. However, I would be willing to pitch in to buy tools for the space. Some things I would suggest acquiring are bench power supplies, digital multimeters, an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generator, and spectrum analyzer. Many of these can be found cheap used on Kijiji or eBay.

in the future i have handtools i can donate. (they are being used ATM for construction)
i've got old some old laptops and computer equipment (monitors, keyboards mice etc).
i have an ok amount of analog electronic parts (caps, resitors, LEDs, diods, transistors, etc) that i can donate.

I have a few containers of old and junky computer parts, cables and electronics. I can donate those and I can see if I have any spare tools

So far I have thought of:
2 microwaves
26" TV (as soon as I get a new TV)
small lockers (one of the facilities guys is going to let me know when they are coming out of 204 Cardinal P)
free internet (possibly)
old home networking equipment (wireless routers, switches etc.)
2 printers (one B&W laser/scanner and one color inkjet/scanner)
Soldering iron
Reprap (need more electronics, but have all the hardware)

Edited: thought of a couple more things.

Once we have location I will see what I can do. I have to check and see if Vecima will let me have a radio or two for the group, they normally sign out radios to individuals as part of their test network. So it will depend on where the building is as it will require a decent shot to top of arts tower. There is also talk of a new tower on cardinal or moving base stations to cardinal. Also would have to get permission from the land lord to install a radio or two on the roof.

But if everything worked out I should be able to get 2 connections: one BWIN (DOCSIS over RF) radio and one WiMAX (802.16d) radio.

I'm not sure if I'll be a very active member but I have a Pace ST-25 station I'd be willing to donate to the cause. I may also be able to get a couple of those posable benchtop lamp/magnifiers.

One big thing to get is tables/workbenches..anyone a good carpenter? :P
