Makerspace physical location

Discussions on anything related to the evolving idea of Saskatoon's first "makerspace". What is a makerspace to you? What should it be called? What's the charter?

What area of Saskatoon would you prefer Tech works to be located in?

$2,600 a month means we're already 1/3 of the way towards being able to get our space!

Crazy excited about this. That place looks IDEAL. I'm an east side kid but I'd still support this location due to the other features it brings to the table.

There are always buses around Ave C and 39th when I am going to and from work. Anyone know what those bus routes are like?

Was at the Furniture store on 1st and Princess is moving. The space in there looked good, any of our realestate contacts know what's happening with that?

The 600V three-phase does need to be stepped down to 208V three phase. There should be a Motor Control Center in the building, and you install a breaker to feed the lighting transformer. The lighting panel would be fed by the transformer secondary.

With some scrounging and a trip to home depot - maybe $1000 (not including labor)

I remember when I worked at the Colonsay potash mine a girl in my work crew spilled a mop bucket full of water right beside a huge bank of MCC's in the MCC room. Good times.

It is extremely unlikely that there isn't already a 120/208 transformer in the building. That would mean there's never been a computer, radio, cordless phone etc in the building. The 347/600 is a feature, not a drawback.
