Development server for the space

Discussions on anything related to the evolving idea of Saskatoon's first "makerspace". What is a makerspace to you? What should it be called? What's the charter?

Development server for the space

Post by ADDandy »

Once we have the space up and running, will there be a Development server for members to use for server side coding for the project? maybe a Vbox server or EXSI? What kinda network/system infrastructure are we thinking about for the space?

I would be willing to donate such a thing. I have a couple of Xeon servers that have ESXi and switches. There just connecting dust right now.
If anyone needs any help with any of the sites (wiki, membership, forms, etc...) you can contact me on the support forum or at adam(at)florizone.com .

I've got a Dell poweredge R200 w/ a quad core XEON and 8GB of ram running vSphere (ESXi 4). Also have SCSI disk arrays, switches, routers, and racks that I will be bringing in.
Will also have a couple Dell Poweredge 2850's, (2x dual core xeon's w/ 4GB of RAM)

I think I'll bring in a Cisco 871, or an 1811 or something, good integrated servivces routers with wifi, we can do VPN etc as well, also be able to split up servers onto their own VLANs and give people dedicated space to mess with things if they want it.
