CAD Software
CAD Software
I need to learn (relearn) how to make 3d objects for CNCing / 3d printing. What software do people suggest? i've used AUTOCAD way back in high school, and i did CAD and solid works in first year, but nothing since then.
Re: CAD Software
Google sketchup is ok, if basic.

Re: CAD Software
I was just talking to Matt about this same thing. In my opinion, Solidworks is the cat's meow - if you have $10k to blow. Google Sketchup seems to be the combat bot builders' favourite of the cheap/free variety, and I'm told most of the skills/methods you will learn in Sketchup can be brought to Solidworks if you decide to trade up.

im going to learn sketchup, i <3 Google anyways.
sketchup has a Crapload of training videos which should make this pretty easy. http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/training/videos.html

Anyways was going to say that the reprap community seems to be using: heekscad, sketchup, AoL and blender. But they list a few more here: http://reprap.org/wiki/Software_Tools#design
