Arduino help (and hello)

Discussions on anything related to the evolving idea of Saskatoon's first "makerspace". What is a makerspace to you? What should it be called? What's the charter?

Arduino help (and hello)

Post by fazuku »

Good day,

I'm new to the forums today, and my name is Chris.

I am looking for some assistance on learning about Arduino programming along with sensors and relay controls for a back yard greenhouse project. Therefore I am looking for a crash course on what materials I need, where to buy them, how to assemble them, and flash code, what a good build environment is (I use OSX primarily, but could build up a PC if required), and perhaps a little bit of an overview on what's what as it relates to the sensors and relays, etc. If you have time to help me out with this over the coming month(s), please send me a PM. I'm happy to provide compensation for time.

In addition, I have a bunch of electronic parts I'd like to donate if they are wanted. This includes various computer parts, network cards, sound cards, etc, an old iPhone G1, other misc phones, etc. Is this usable stuff, and where could I drop it off if so?

Thanks and Seasons Greetings!

Hey Fazuku,
I'm no expert, but I've been messing around with arduinos for a while. Maybe I can help you get started. Do you have an arduino at the moment? Mac OS is perfectly fine, I haven't found any real difference between them when it comes to arduino programming. Why dont you pop into our chat room (you can get there from sktechworks.ca or at #sktechworks in freenode) and say hi, lots of people idling there can likely help you.

Good luck, let me know where I can help

Paul
