Holy crap.

Discussions on anything related to the evolving idea of Saskatoon's first "makerspace". What is a makerspace to you? What should it be called? What's the charter?

This is kind of a big deal. I wonder if some of sparkfun's retail-packaged stuff will start going that way as well?

Like the guys in that post, I remember hunting around at Radio Shack as a kid for parts. I had IR LEDs and phototransistors, solar cells, motors, perf board, and plenty of other toys. I think that's even where I got my first Weller iron.

Then one day they stopped carrying resistors. All you could get was TVs, stereos, and computers. Radio Shack had turned into Future Shop.

I really hope they bring it back and I hope that The Source (which really isn't any different than their Circuit City parents) goes back to this legacy. InterTan components and Forrest M. Mims circuit books for everyone!
