Woek Space: Bench

Post by Odemia »

Finally getting my workspace in my condo all together. Just need to add the threaded rod to the bench and get it all tightened up, and still looking for s-clips to secure the bench top and shelf. Unfortunately the spacing of wooden pegs and the threaded rod are off by about 1/16" on the long stringers. So I am going to have to open up the bottom groove on the long stringers to make the holes in the legs line up.

Anyone know where I can get s-clips? I have tried Co-op Hardware, Rona and Home Depot. I might have to use some L braces if I can't find any.

Bench completed. No screws or nails (except the screws I need to add to secure the work-surface). All the wood is under compression and all the metal is under tension, rock solid. Although I am thinking of adding a layer of OBD or MDF to the work surface to give it a bit more rigidity. The 1/2" ply has a little flex but shouldn't be an issue for most electronics work, which is it's main purpose.

Thanks to sax for the help re ripping the stringers and chopping the rod.
