Re: hackspace starter inventory

By my count there were two volunteers - Andrew and Jeremy. PCS Allan's safety guy had asked for 4 guys to load, so we're one short. They are worried about us hurting ourselves loading them. Would the best option be to slow down a bit, talk about the lockers at the next meeting, and make some firmer ...

Re: hackspace starter inventory

Sorry I didn't respond sooner - I was offline for the day. I had asked for 30. I guess if you don't want them all, we can pick up fewer than 30. 5 is the minimum we can pick up. We can just throw away the ones we don't want, but it's a pain to pick them up if we can't really use them, When I had tal...

Re: hackspace starter inventory

The demolition crew at PCS Allan have set aside 5 sets of 6 lockers each (30 total) for me. I need to pick them up Sunday. I had sent out an email last night but now I realize that I don't have access to my personal email from work ... darn firewalls ... so I don't know if there are 3 people availab...

Re: hackspace starter inventory

Update on the lockers: - many of the 400 lockers have been claimed for other tasks at the mill. - those that are still available (at least 100) will not be removed from service until at least September. - everyone involved (but me) wants to 'wait and see' instead of setting a price and letting me bu...

Re: hackspace starter inventory

The 400 or so lockers I discussed at the last meeting: - no one had thought of selling them yet, but once I asked lots of people want them - since it is easier for the purchasing agent, who is in charge of disposing of depreciated equipment, they may be shipped off to an auction place. Otherwise he ...

Re: $25 PC?

Looks like a great computer core. It's not a system on chip - more like a system on FOB? There must be some sort of header beneath the camera add-on. There may be a few issues interfacing to real-world Inputs and Outputs. I could see this being added to the Arduino. - Arduino control the motors, rea...

I vote yes. Or I would if voting worked for me.

Re: Makerspace physical location

The 600V three-phase does need to be stepped down to 208V three phase. There should be a Motor Control Center in the building, and you install a breaker to feed the lighting transformer. The lighting panel would be fed by the transformer secondary. With some scrounging and a trip to home depot - may...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi all, I don't really 'know' anyone in the group. I heard about the group from an email that Malcolm Whyte sent at the university. My wife forwarded the message, and here I am. I'm an electrical engineer, working for Potashcorp Allan. I'm not on Facebook (kinda anti-social, paranoid about security)...
