Any musicians/guitar players out there?
I recently discovered the wide world of DIY guitar effects pedals, i really want to try building one!

There's a few websites I found which offer schematics and even sell kits, but i would probably just try breadboarding one to start...

Some further ideas...
A lot of these pedals are using tuned analog electronics(resistors, capacitors, transistors, op-amps), and since i'm kind of a digital electronics guy i'd be interested in building one using a DSP (digital signal processor).

Microchip actually offers free software libraries for audio processing using the dsPIC series microcontrollers! *nerdgasm*

Any have any thoughts/interest/input into this sort of thing?

I did one several years ago. It was based off of a fender distortion pedal. Put it in a metal proto case with a proper stomp button. Gave it to a friend who actually has a guitar. He liked it.

They are cool projects. Bread boarding it to play with it until you are getting the sound you like would be fun. But do spend some money on the final case and buton/pedal.

Sweet, Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely do that once i get things finalized...i generally don't take projects past the breadboard/protoboard stage....I need to work on FINNISHING my projects, lol
