We need to deploy some sort of spam solution on the wiki, we're getting hammered right now (check out the recent changes list). http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Combating_spam has some ideas for how this might work.

agreed, I think only Adam has admin access though.

Is the spam related to the internal server errors. Or is something else going on.

The spam is causing it. I had no idea it was this bad. Please contact me if there is any issues like this. I will start cleaning up the spam.

We need some people to help with the spam control on the wiki. I can keep removing the spam but it would be better if there was more people able to help with deleting and banning the spammers . Who is up to the job?

I can do it, I'm on there pretty regularly.

We might need to look into something a bit more drastic, too. The link I posted had a bunch of suggestions, like blackholing all non-north-american IPs (a list was provided).

I can help as well. Also can we identify IPs. Is the spam coming from one source or all over the place. If it is comping from one place black listing the IP from the server could be a lot more effective.

I would also be willing to help out with spam control. Stupid bots...
