CAD Software

I need to learn (relearn) how to make 3d objects for CNCing / 3d printing. What software do people suggest? i've used AUTOCAD way back in high school, and i did CAD and solid works in first year, but nothing since then.

Google sketchup is ok, if basic.

I was just talking to Matt about this same thing. In my opinion, Solidworks is the cat's meow - if you have $10k to blow. Google Sketchup seems to be the combat bot builders' favourite of the cheap/free variety, and I'm told most of the skills/methods you will learn in Sketchup can be brought to Solidworks if you decide to trade up.

sketchup has a Crapload of training videos which should make this pretty easy.

Anyways was going to say that the reprap community seems to be using: heekscad, sketchup, AoL and blender. But they list a few more here:
