This is what I've been working on for the last week or so: A camera rig that pans a camera one step every minute, and fires the shutter automatically 3 times in each minute. This works perfectly fine. The problem at this point lies in the last step, getting the rig to move from left to right. These videos should help:

It does seem to be able to pull the camera, but this is when it's connected to 5v/ground directly. When connected through a digital output, it doesnt work.

The output pins probably can't source enough current to drive the motor you're using. You'll need a driver of some sort that can handle the current.

I've got a bunch of uln2803s in my parts bin. They're a bit overkill, but should do the trick in a pinch.

good work! all I"ve really done wiht my arduino is scroll text an a character LCD, and blink some LEDs, I've some some motors and stuff on the way from Ebay to play with, hopefully arrive soon.

You're using the servo for rotation right? Take the red wire from the connector and plug it directly to the 5V source. Leave the signal and ground wires going to your control circuitry.
