WTB: Ribbon Cable

Rewiring the reprap this weekend I ran out of ribbon cable. I need 2, 24" long, 3 conductor ribbon cables. Preferably 28awg in each strand.

I will be ordering some new cables through digikey/mouser whenever there is enough for free shipping again. But would like to buy/borrow right away. Let me know if you have anything I can use and if you would want cash or replacement.

EDIT: 28awg and now only need one >24" cable.

If you have a wider ribbon (say, from an old floppy or IDE cable), they're pretty easy to separate. Take the connectors off, start the cut with a utility knife, then peel apart.

First it is not 20AWG that I need, it is something smaller will take a look when I get home and update, but even the disk drive cables I have are 28AWG which is too small for the connectors I need to put on. And IDE cables are typically 32AWG, even worse.

If anyone has some fairly thick disk drive ribbon that is 24" that would probably work.

So 28AWG does work. Cables are for x,y and z end stops on my reprap. Managed to replace cable connecting the x end stop with a shorter one built from a disk drive ribbon. Then used what was connecting the x end stop to conect the z end stop. Still could use some ribbon to connect the y end stop.

As temporary measure I patched in a piece of cat5 to the y end stop (the last one). But the Cat5 is not very manageable, it is surprisingly rigid compared to ribbon cables. So I am still looking for a long piece of ribbon cable (>24") if anyone has a piece that long.

well, if 28awg is fine, I've got some > 24" at home.
