i think it would be kinda neat to have a logo that we could easily sticker/stencil/mill into projects. Even if it was the regular logo but with STW on it instead of the full name. something small that can be put on things easily, kinda like a badge.

I think having a logo with text is fine...? We just need one as an alternative that is similar that can be used for any other miscellaneous purposes that we have.

I agree with ADDAndy here. It really improves the versatility of the logo, which is always a good thing.

What about making the gear in the second picture look more like the one in the first (colored slash and the single spoke). That way it looks more unique on its own.
