This is an awesome idea, I look forward to making a short film! We can do some very, very cool things especially if we incorporate the motion control camera rig rylan has been working on! That will allow us to combine real footage of a person with the stop motion shot of the robot, making it seem as if they were interacting with each other. All that with a smooth, multi-axis camera movement!
Rylan, this reminds me of my idea to have a robot to assist us in creating a long exposure light drawing stop motion film. By using a robot that can replicate it's movements perfectly, we can create precise light drawings and bring them to life with the use of stop motion photography. It sounds like this is something we could try out with this robot by simply attaching lights it it's legs. We could use the same technique in render that you posted with particles tracing the robots leg movement to edit and preview how the robots drawing will look in real life!
