I like both rsilks' logos they are nice clean and simple. They are the kind of logo that works really well just about any where.

Also like DigitalOSH's wrench and plug idea. But I think that has to stay fairly large.

Do we have to choose just one? Should we be trying to come up with a large format one an a small format one for the corner of website/letter head etc?

I think it would be good to have a uniform logo for both the big and the small one. They don't need to be exactly the same, but they should be recognizably similar. I also vote against using the Saskatchewan shape. We're Saskatoon Techworks after all, not Saskatchewan Techworks.

The only problem with the wrench is that it doesn't scale well due to the fine details. A more abstract version might work, though. I won't be home till late tonight, but that gives me some ideas.

For those curious, the "saskatchewan" shape in the previous logo is like that on purpose. It's a bit meta. It could be interpreted as the SK outline, or perhaps a door, or a monolith. The gear could be interpreted as a sun, or a beacon. Also it's easy to mill up on the CNC for a sign

I'll play around when I get home tonight though, got a few other ideas.

Or something like this. It would need some tweaking to not look like shit, though.

I would like to throw a point up about the crescent wrench. In my opinion, it would look a lot better on a shirt or other swag. Even if we had a version that didn't have as many fine details for some applications (although besides cutting one on a CNC i dont see where it would really be an issue) and kept the detailed version for swag and paperwork? I like the other wrench but I feel like it's too plain. The other issue (and I overlooked it at first as well) is that when we voted on a name, we had an option for TechWorks as well as for Saskatoon Techworks and that one won out, so I think it's important, for the sake of uniformity, to keep the full name on anything we print.
