Suggestion for future units: use a mini ITX board like the ASUS P8H61-I with an Intel Core 2100T. Very low power and heat, plenty of performance for emulators, and it has a great onboard GPU. Perhaps not cheap, though, especially compared to older, scavenged parts.
Alternatively, you forgo the computer entirely and build an actual JAMMA system. You can find multigame boards relatively cheap and you can even get a full kit. The Retroarcade.us stuff works quite well.
