The base was glass grit blasted and the silhouette was orbital sanded.

I've got quite few jobs lined up, so I should be cutting some 1/2" MS flanges soon!

Re: CNC Plasma Table

Cut these two pieces out on the plasma table last night to get my feet wet. A bit over 9" tall, 0.125" 6061-T6 (I had to anneal the base material so I could bend it without cracking), plug welded together and all the welds were ground flush. An early Valentines Day present for my wife. :D ...

Re: CNC Plasma Table

I'll be production ready before taking on any jobs, most likely beginning in early to mid-February. What is the thickness of the TI you want cut? If you supply the material I can give you a price for the cutting (based on cut time and # of pierces), shouldn't be a problem. Waterjet is ideal for CF, ...

Re: CNC Plasma Table

Titanium, yes. Carbon fiber, no (because it is non-conductive). The CF would either have to be cut to shape with a router or with water jet.

Re: CNC Plasma Table

I got mine from Busybee while it was still here...I thought the blade that came with it worked great until I tried something stupid and snapped it. I ordered the 'bimetal' version as a replacement because I heard it was supposed to cut much faster but its brutal compared to the stock one I had. Hah...

Re: CNC Plasma Table

I've got the same bandsaw as you, where do you get your spare blades? :P I hate my bandsaw and cannot wait to replace it...I bought a case load of blades from House of Tools before it went under. I haven't sourced any locally, but worst case scenario Princess Auto would have them (probably junk lik...

CNC Plasma Table

Here's some build photos of the CNC plasma table I got on Tuesday of this week. It hasn't moved under it's own power yet, but it should this weekend if I don't get too tied up with other stuff. Two crates showed up on Tuesday. http://www.aceengineering.ca/Temp/40D/CNC/IMG_8259.JPG http://www.aceengi...

Re: Next meeting?

I didn't see on on Kijiji, but the machine I ordered is shipping out on Nov 28th...maybe I will have some time to practice with it for some Christmas presents. :D It will be one of the first 15 made, I also bought the plate marker accessory so I have the ability to do engraving as well as cutting. T...

Re: Project log - CNC upgrade

If you have any worries about flexing you can always laminate the MDF with a sheet of aluminum or steel depending on the configuration and which direction you see the flexing in. Looks pretty cool!

Re: Next meeting?

So this project is temporarily on hold, thanks for all the info rsilk and allowing me to check out your CNC machine! This is on hold as I bought a CNC plasma table and should have it running by the new year. :D THEN I can begin the fab work for building this CNC machine! I found a servo driver that ...
